New Moxyland Cover by Joey Hi-Fi

Angry Robot commissioned a new Moxyland cover from the brilliant Joey Hi-Fi to match the iconic Zoo City UK and SA text cover.

It’s insanely gorgeous and amazing. I’m blown away by the level of detail, the cunning use of negative space and how absolutely perfectly it captures the book (and references the cute toy Moxy of the original SA cover!)

I was talking to my editor, Helen Moffett about the beautiful cover Joey just did for Richard de Nooy’s new novel, The Big Stick¬†and the way he sneaks nuances of the storyline into every detail. The little easter egg illustrations are intriguing clues if you haven’t read the book and very satisfying to hunt down when you’ve turned the last page and get all the references.

There are few covers I know of that you can appreciate even more AFTER you’ve finished the book.

He’s an astounding designer who takes his job very seriously, reads the books and comes up with surprising and beautiful things you would never have imagined that nevertheless riff off the stuff that you did.

It’s a remarkable privilege to work with him.

Bloody marvelous! Even more powerful than the Zoo City cover.

Oh WOW. A reader's cover designer de luxe. Hell, one of the best cover designers for fiction in the world. Such a close and careful reader. Viva Joey Hi-Fi!
