Get your Moxy On – Moxyland short story competition

Angry Robot and new writing talent-spotting site Authonomy.com are running a deliriously cool competition to have your Moxyland-themed short story published in Zoo City, my new novel out May 2010.

Sign up for an Authonomy account, submit a Moxyish story between 100 and 3000 words in the comments section http://authonomy.com/ViewBook.aspx?bookid=10869 and I’ll choose the best three to be published in Zoo City next year.

Here’s the official blurbage:

——————————————————————————————————————————————-

We’re giving you the chance to have your short story published in Angry Robot author Lauren Beukes’ next book. In order to enter, all you need to do is write a short story (up to 3000 words) based in the universe Lauren
created in her first novel, Moxyland. Use characters, themes and settings from her book to create your own work.

Moxyland is available to read on authonomy now. http://authonomy.com/ViewBook.aspx?bookid=10869

Or, if you prefer, you can read the whole book using browse inside.
http://browseinside.harpercollins.co.uk/index.aspx?isbn13=9780007323890

You can enter the competition by copying your entry into the comments section of the Moxyland book page.

Over the next few weeks, Lauren will be on the site and reading every story with her favourite 3 going into
her next book, out in Spring 2010.

The closing date for entries is September 11th 2009. The winners will be announced at this year’s
FantasyCon which will be taking place in Nottingham, UK. For more information, go to http://www.fantasycon.org.uk

I’ve also posted some guidelines on what I’ll be looking for at the top of the comments section on the Authonomy page – mainly inventiveness, originality, a gripping story and some kind of DNA in common with Moxyland.

If you’re someone I already know, in the interests of fairness, objectivity and all that’s good in the world, please use a pseudonym as your Authonomy user name.

I’m really excited about other people playing in the Moxyland universe and I can’t wait to see what amazing things will come of this.
