SF legend Charles Stross rates Moxyland

Hugo-winning author, Charlie Stross just posted a stunning review of Moxyland, which makes me  feel a tumble of excited and awe-struck and very humbled.

From Charlie Stross: “It’s what you get when you take your classic 80s deracinated corporate alienation sensibility, detonate about six kilos of semtex under it, and scatter the smoking wreckage across 21st century South Africa — full of unselfconscious spiky originality, the larval form of a new kind of SF munching its way out of the intestines of the wasp-paralysed caterpillar of cyberpunk.”

It’s an authormaton’s dream blurb and one of the first international responses I’ve had for the book. Short of Philip K Dick blurbing from his High Castle in the great beyond, it’s going to be very hard to beat.

Thanks, Charlie.

What a fantastic boost, Lauren! Is it too late to use it as a cover shout-line on the Angry Robot edition?

The Moxy beast scores again... congratulations. That line about the wasp and the caterpillar is absolutely off-the-wall-whacked-wonderful.

@Fiona - frantic phone calls happening in London as we speak to haul the book out of the maw of the printing press and get that blurb on.

@Helen, I know, he has an insanely wonderful mind.

Oh and "authormaton" is what I've decided Angry Robot authors should be called. I'm campaigning for it and have so far won over the marketing guy, Lee, although he's holding out my other suggestion, which was issuing all authors with lasers

Okay, look, Richard, just because I'm turning 33 next week does NOT qualify me for matronage.

Indeed, but alliteration beats truth like paper covers rock. However, I promise to retract if you recommend my book when you're on the couch with Oprah.
